Twas the Night before Christmas - A Domainer's Poem
Friday, 24 December 2010 10:08

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Computers were humming, the clicks of a mouse.
Portfolios were checked with the upmost care,
In hopes that PPC earnings would soon be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of dot coms danced in their heads.
And mamma on her iPhone and I in my laptop,
Had just read Domaining.com, we read from the top.

When out from our speakers we heard such a clatter,
I looked at my desktop to see what was the matter.
It froze and it hummed thanks to an application in flash,
So I pressed Ctrl Alt Delete to try and get it back

It purred and it hummed, was god awful slow
Then suddenly it stopped, light appeared from below
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a weird looking Santa. Man, he was weird.

He peered at me with beady black eyes,
And pointed at me and my surprised wife.
"No more of this Twitter!", he said with a cackle.
"No more of Facebook and checking your email."

"No more reading the Domaining.com feed.
No more dnForum and random people named Steve.
Enjoy your holiday. At my presence don't fret.
But for one freakin day; get off the internet!"

He disappeared quickly, I knew what to do
We shut off our electronics and gave them the boot
But spending so much time offline with my wife,
I remembered why we always end up in messy fights.

So I gave her the iPhone, turned on my laptop
Checked Domaining.com and bought a dot com.
She rolled her eyes at the pitiful sight.
Oh, well....
Merry Christmas, Domainers and here's to a peaceful night!
