San Bernardino County Supervisor Dennis Hansberger Sues Domain Owner

A domain owner, William Fanning, is being sued by San Bernardino County Supervisor, Dennis Hansberger, over several domain registratins in Hansberger's name including dennishansberger.com.

I actually think he SHOULD be sued. It's quite obvious that he was buying up all the mames he good as a form of "blackmail" in that, if the person wanted to use that particular name, he would have to pay Fanning for the privelege.

I agree Christine. This trend of buying peoples name and using it as blackmail should be handled as such. Eventually the laws will catch up with the technology.

I don't see how you can do much about it, there must be so many people with the same names, we can't all own a domain with our name on it.

Well when someone names Jack Smith buys the domain David Johnson and then threatens to make it a porn site unless Mr. Johnson buys it from him for $10,000, I think a case for blackmail can be made.
