Long gone is the ugly little man shoveling something that looks like a pile of…..you know what. Today’s “under construction” webpage should do some marketing and data collection work for you while waiting for live launch.
Collect Data
The first thing it should do is have a way to collect data with either a newsletter sign up or user registration solicitation. Data collection should be easy and minimal as possible (name and email). Users will gladly provide information for any service, product or information they are interested in. This is a great way to promote traffic on launch day.

Tease Them a Little
Give them a reason to give away their data by publishing a related graphic, text or some other form of “sneak peak”. For instance, it can be a viral video, a creative graphic or perhaps a free gift such as an ebook, free stickers, etc. The more creative and unique, the better.
What About Parking?
Some domainers will not change the DNS on a domain until development is complete. They don’t want to miss out on any revenue the site could have made in the meantime. BUT…..which is more valuable to you: a few dollars from a user you will never see again or a guaranteed contact who is interested in your website?
