Why Domain Name History Research Is Important
If a domain name has been blacklisted for spam, your chances of being indexed in a search engine are almost slim to none. Obviously this is bad for business. Unless the domain name is a misspell or a type-in, stay away from blacklisted domains.
Furthermore, you want to make sure that the domain is free from any potential
trademarks, shady past behavior or anything else that might make the name hard
to resell or develop. Using Free Online Tools Thankfully, there are many online tools free for use that you can use to research the history of a domain name including but not limited to: Archieve.org - Check past development of a name. Google.com - See what shows up under the quoted and unquoted form of the domain name and using only the keywords, with and without quotes. Google Trends - How does the domain name's keyword perform? KeywordSpy - See if the domain comes under any keywords, review potential competitors, etc. Whois History - Review the owner history. Forum Search - Do a forum search for the domain name in major domain forums. Hits: 1236 Comments (0)
